DIPLOMA IN INTEGRATIVE COUNSELLING (BSL)

This course is designed to follow on from the Certificate in Couselling (BSL) and is also delivered in the form of residential weekends. The     Inter-Psyche  core  model incorporates the Person Centred  theory of  Carl Rogers,  the relational approach of  Mearns and Cooper and Beck's cognitive behavioural           model.  We  also draw on  a  broad  range  of  other  relational  and  humanistic models.

Skills & Personal Development

The course provides structured opportunities for students to practice counselling skills, gain competency in their judicious use and insight into the development of supportive client/counsellor relationships. There are frequent opportunities for observation, practice, feed back, discussion and review and students regularly video each other practising their skills. The course. Opportunities for personal development during the course are:
*  NB It is a course requirement that all students undertake at least 50 hours of personal therapy / counselling during the two years of the Diploma Course, 20 of these can be group work.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR COUNSELLING PRACTICE

During year three of training, participants are required to complete a minimum of 100 hours of supervised counselling practice. Inter-Psyche will give considerable assistance to students in finding a placement and will be able to offer placements to some students who live within reach of the trust.

Selection Criteria:

Selection for the Diploma in Integrative Counselling Training is through successful completion of Certificate Training. Applicants for the Diploma will need to meet all the requirements for admission to the Certificate plus:
  • A certificate in counselling skills (BSL) either Inter-Psyche or equivalent
  • a practical knowledge of counselling skills
  • formal or informal experience of using these skills
  • willingness and ability to devote time and ebergy to private study.
