Core Staff

Mike Berry Dip Couns., BSc.,  Dip Sup., Cert Ed.,
holds a Diploma in Supervision from the Minster Centre and has been working for Inter-Psyche as a trainer and supervision group leader since 2004. Mike also holds a Post Qualification Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People. He supervises at Ashford Counselling Service as well as maintaining his own private practice in counselling and supervision.  Mike has considerable experience counselling young people in further education and counselling children who are fostered or adopted.

Sue Adams, MA Child, Adolescent and Family Psychotherapy, Dip. Sup, Dip Couns. 
BACP Registered, MBACP (Accred). Trained at the CCPE, Inter-Psyche and Thanet College. Manages a counselling project for families fleeing domestic abuse and has a clinical practice in women's refuge since 2004.   Supervises trainee counsellors since 2011. 

Entry requirements
: This course is a 1-year conversion course for counsellors who already have a Diploma in Counselling or higher qualification in counselling or psychotherapy.

Selection Criteria
Selection is by application form and interview. Applicants will need to show evidence of:

  • At least one year experience working with children
  • A positive attitude towards creativity
  • A high degree of Emotional Literacy
  • Emotional stability
  • An accepting, compassionate attitude towards others

Equipment will include:
Sand trays, dolls houses, puppets, paints, clay, felt etc.

  • Students are required to have 80% attendance at the taught elements.
  • 50 supervised hours of counselling children and/or young people.
  • Successful completion of a 4,000-word essay including a case study.
  • A 1 hour presentation on an aspect of counselling children and young people with an accompanying paper giving a clear picture of the presentation content.
  • A 2000 word essay processing the research, formulation, performance and feedback of the presentation.
